A New Year begins along with new aspirations, dreams, plans, ideas and resolutions. Usually they are connected with health, money or relationships. Invariably they are promises to yourself to either start something new which will improve your life or stop doing something which has ceased to benefit you.
You may want to:
- get fitter
- eat more sensibly
- cut down on the carbs
- spend less time at the office
- give more input to important relationships in your life
- start a new hobby
- write a book
- start a new business, job or find ways to bring in more income …
The dreams continue, despite the statistics telling us that by the start of February most people’s resolutions have been broken and your way of life continues in the same patterns as before.
Some may say, if only I had the benefit of hindsight then I wouldn’t have done xx or made that particular decision. We may have to stumble once but after that we do indeed have the benefit of hindsight and we can consider each day a new one (if we can only let go of the past!).
But… you know, God has made each day new for you and I. He loves us so much and wants us to continue to believe in Him and ourselves to ensure that each day can be in time of renewal and growth. There is another secret…
God has Resolutions too – He is doing a New thing.
This is worth repeating God is doing a New thing and
He is in the preparation of this today.
Can you imagine this? Well it isn’t too difficult to imagine if you consider our history. Throughout the years God has always been doing new things and once done, he continues, never once repeating himself! He created us, fed us and loved us. He’s new things have included creation, sending a flood to start anew, rescuing the Jews from slavery, rescuing the Gentiles from following other gods, giving us his Son, Jesus, to show us another way—a new way— and still He plans new things?
- What are they you may ask?
- Have they been revealed?
Whatever they are you can be assured that they will be nothing like the previous miraculous happenings and they will be even BETTER. You see, God wants a world for you and me, which is bountiful, amazing and full of love (quite opposite to the one we live in today). It is one of His promises and He is preparing us for it—in ways that may surprise you.
He intends that you will part of this – yes truly – like any journey you go on, you want your loved ones with you, or thinking about you and supporting you. This is exactly the same for God.
One person who has got some insight about it, is my Pastor, Mark Watson and it is with great delight and with his permission, that I include an extract of his interpretation in the videoblog.
So go and listen – you may be surprised…
It may well be that you consider your New Year resolutions in a new light—His Light—after all if God is doing a new thing – don’t you want to be part of it?

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning; great is His faithfulness.
