Have you missed me?
I don’t mean to be egotistical when I ask the question but for the last couple of weeks I have been unable to put together a broadcast due to ill health.
Even now, it’s quite difficult giving the concentration to the part of my brain, which deals with creativity and new thoughts, but I felt I didn’t want you to feel that I had abandoned you, the broadcasts and just stopped communicating.
Have you been in a position when you don’t know the truth of a situation so instead the gaps are filled with other answers, because without knowing the truth of something it gives the devil a foothold.
It’s funny but when I am poorly, I deal with it but I don’t realise just how poorly I have been until I start to get better! This seems quite a paradox. Do you find the same?
Continuum of Faith during Illness
Illness can bring you down, dent your faith, deplete your energy and for a time you are incapacitated of our usual activities. Does this give the Devil a foothold or does he just smile as you slip a little further from God. The alternative is that illness strengthens your faith, concentrates your conversations and prayer time with God and sustains you. Perhaps there is a continuum between the two states?
At the sign of an ill health attack what is it that you seem to lose? What disappears first, for me it’s humour and the spirit of life’s adventure fades a little and is in danger of being diminished. More energy is needed to keep these areas topped up than is usually needed and of course illness depletes me of this too.
So, for those who have and are suffering illness, may you feel that God is nearby and put the Armour of God on, to aid your recovery. For me this includes a pocketful of humour and adventure as I experience life through another lens.
As I pop my head up in the recovery road, I feel that God is suddenly saying, “Oh there you are – I’ve missed you”. He’s been nearby but there has been a fog between us. It’s good to know that even in illness I cannot go missing from God!
I look forward to picking up the broadcasts once more, and one thing I’d like you to know is – I’ve really missed you.
Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars?
He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.
Because of His great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.
Isaiah 40:26 (NLT)
